The Fobbiden City was the palace for the royal family for the last two dynasties of emperors in China, Ming and Qing. It is the largest and best-preserved ancient building group in China. It covers 720,000 square meters, with 800 buildings and 9,000 rooms, including Meridian Gate, Hall of Supreme Harmony, Palace of Hevenly Purity, etc.
The Great Wall was constructed 2,000 years ago during the Qing Dynasty (221-207 BC), the first emporer dynasty in Chinese history. The total length is said over 5,000 km (3,100 miles). It starts from Shanhaiguan on the east and ends at Jiayuguan in the Gobi Desert. The purpose of the Great Wall was to stop invasion from the north and protect the people in the central-China. Today the Great Wall has become a symbol of China and the number one tourist attraction in Beijing.
Huangshan (Yellow Mountain) is located in the south of Anhui Province. The whole mountain covers an area of 1200 hectares. According to historical documents, there are 36 big peaks and 36 small peaks named. It is known for four unique features--gnarled pines, craggy rocks, rolling seas of clouds and hot springs. Mr. Xu Xiake, a famous geographer and traveler of the Ming Dynasty, traveled to every famous mountain of China and climbed up Huangshan twice. His comment on Huangshan was:"No mountain is better than Huangshan."
Guilin is located in the northeast of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Guilin has a magnificent scenery, with beautiful landscape and exquisite caves and stones. It is renowned as the "second to none in scenery with hills and water in China".The Lijiang River is the main stream of Guilin. It twists among mountains. The abrupt and straight peaks reflect themselves in the eater and make a marvelous view.
  Potala Palace was the Palace of Dalai Lama in Tibet. It was built in the later 18th century on top of the ancient structure. It has thousands of rooms and halls. The palace is located on top of the mountain and shows great mysteries to many tourists.
  The Temple of Heaven (Tiantan), is located 2km southeast of the Forbidden City. The temple with subsidiary buildings and a surrounding garden covers an area with the size of five times the Forbidden City. The Temple of Heaven was used by Chinese emperors to worship the god of heaven. Temples of various kinds are scattered in Beijing since the emporers had many gods to worship. The best-known are the Temple of Heaven in the south, the Temple of Earth in the north, the Temple of Sun in the east, and the Temple of the Moon in the west. Among these temples, the Temple of Heaven is the grandest.
